This is an excellent impression of a scarce and consequential 1997 Kerry James Marshall graphic work printed by Master Printer Ross Zirkle (1955-2007) at Tamarind Institute, Albuquerque, New Mexico (the publisher).
Other examples of this work are in major public institutions such as SFMOMA, the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Yale University Art Gallery and the Library of Congress - which is why Memento is so elusive and rarely found on the market.
The present example is elegantly floated and framed in a white wood hand made museum frame with UV Optium Acrylic glazing - the highest quality.

Kerry James Marshall’s Memento memorializes the persons associated with the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s. The work depicts multiple headshots of civic leaders and other individuals who died during this era, such as Medger Evers and members of the Black Panther Party. Rather than drawing these images, Marshall uses the newspaper obituary photographs that the general public is accustomed to seeing. He exalts the fallen individuals by placing angel wings behind most of the images. A black woman carrying an urn of flowers stands before portraits of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and John F. Kennedy. The woman turns toward the viewer, asking us, and the larger community, to “mourn” with her.

White Buddha - Stained Glass

Originally inspired by the mosaic art found underground in subway stations, Grace experimented with shapes and patterns to practice and perfect her glass cutting techniques and assemblage. Her evolution into representational work has allowed her to create pieces that are deeply detailed and realistic, including portraiture and familiar imagery. Grace’s passion for color and instinct for harmonious combinations further adds to the appeal of her art.
Grace has had multiple solo and group shows throughout New York and has collectors from all around the world and often collaborates with architects and interior designers in creating site-specific work and custom installations. Small works can be found in retail
shops throughout the city.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Upon my very first exploration of cutting glass and building a mosaic, I realized it required tenacity. The span between the start and finish of a project is never quick and easy. It depends on focus and diligence, and it’s what attracts me most to this medium. As a mosaic artist, my attention is centered on piecing together materials to make art that is visually appealing both for its subject matter as well as its aesthetics.
My influences are the structures and symbols I see around me everyday in NYC. Parts of the city such as buildings, water towers, bridges and sewer covers are often the impetus for a project. My travels through the subway tunnels, streets and parks also lead to inspiration. I particularly love the accessible art underground; those magnificent, colorful and bold mosaic designs that brighten up our subway platforms. Works of art that are often rushed passed, but remain ready to be admired and steady in their function. Additionally, I have an inclination to study faces. I look at a subject and see the shapes and shadows that create them. I relish the process of taking their image apart to input color and texture into the tones I see. The use of color and how colors are combined are the most significant decisions in my work.
Working with a variety of materials that include stained glass, ceramic figures, window glass, mirror and cement are the force from which my designs are created. Glass is scored, broken and nipped down into the pieces I desire to compose the whole. I work quite deliberately, concisely employing both traditional mosaic methods with innovative techniques. Mosaic making has a long history and tradition and I always want to honor that in my work. Part of that homage is to build upon that base by creating and using materials in a unique way. Eager to share Marcel Duchamp with Japanese audiences, Shuzo Takiguchi - a Japanese-born poet, critic, and artist with ties to Surrealist circles, assembled an international portfolio of graphic works by various artists with strong ties to Duchamp, to accompany the deluxe version of his monograph, "To and From Rrose Sélavy". The present work was created for this portfolio by one of Marcel Duchamp's friends, Shusaku Arakawa. It is signed, dated and titled on the front - and can be exhibited both vertically and horizontally - (see photos). The present work, along with others in the portfolio, was published in Japan and is rarely found stateside.
Shusaku Arakawa (荒川 修作 Arakawa Shūsaku, July 6, 1936 – May 18, 2010) who spoke of himself as an “eternal outsider” and “abstractionist of the distant future,” first studied mathematics and medicine at the University of Tokyo, and art at the Musashino Art University. He was a member of Tokyo’s Neo-Dadaism Organizers, a precursor to The Neo-Dada movement. Arakawa’s early works were first displayed in the infamous Yomiuri Independent Exhibition, a watershed event for postwar Japanese avant-garde art. Arakawa arrived in New York in 1961 with fourteen dollars in his pocket and a telephone number for Marcel Duchamp, whom he phoned from the airport and over time formed a close friendship. He started using diagrams within his paintings as philosophical propositions. Jean-Francois Lyotard has said of Arakawa’s work that it “makes us think through the eyes,” and Hans-Georg Gadamer has described it as transforming “the usual constancies of orientation into a strange, enticing game—a game of continually thinking out.” Quoting Paul Celan...

"RED POW" Batman & the Movie Star Monoprint with painted iridescent Bat Signal

Ceravolo's just completed Mono Print with iridescent acrylic hand work is titled "RED POW" with YELLOW burst. based on his "Batman and the Movie Star" original painting on canvas. This canvas measures approx. 28x40" framed.
Ceravolo has created several unique monoprints based on his "Batman and the Movie Star" painting all with different "POW" and burst colors. This one is RED POW with a Yellow burst. All of these monoprints have an iridescent painted Bat Signal in the sky hand painted by Ceravolo.
One of The Hampton's most popular urban Pop artists Ceravolo's work has been exhibited alongside Warhol and Peter Max for years, his paintings are collected by Elton John, Rod Stewart, and Alice Cooper among others. He has been call the "Rock and Roll Painter" and "Painter of the Stars of Rock" by the media.
This Monoprint features Batman driving his Batmobile with a sultry Movie Star sitting next to him while at the same time there is a "Bat Call" signal in the night sky signaling him that there is a need for his help in Gotham City.
Along with those two distractions the gopher "G" is standing next to Batman on the side of the Bat Mobile. While this is all going on Batman is thinking...."I must concentrate on driving" Maybe this is a typical night for Batman in Gotham City.

His paintings can be found in many influential corporate and private collections, including: ELTON JOHN, ROD STEWART, HUGH M. HEFNER, DAVID BRENNER, MONIQUE VAN VOOREN, WARNER BROS., RCA RECORDS AND SCHENLEY INDUSTRIES to name a few. Ceravolo's art came to popular attention when he was commissioned to create five large scale paintings for the lobby of The Palladium Theatre in New York City of Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, Frank Zappa, Neil Young and Hall and Oates.
