Dent was a legendary watchmaker and clockmaker and helped England rule the world through their navigational timekeepers. This watch is entirely hand made and probably was a custom ordered watch as well because few people wore wrist watches when it produced. It is high grade and beautifully finished with "fire gilded plates." This method of gilding using mercury was outlawed because of the danger to the workmen. The watch keeps dependable time and is a striking example of English craftsmanship. The case is hinged and the movement swivels out in the classic British method. We have just serviced it so you should not need a service for many years, and when you do we will service it for you at our cost, since we sold it.
