This rare and stunning original Georgian-era men's ring features a 10.5 mm x 9 mm approximately 4-carat pyrope garnet cabochon bezel-set and closed-backed into an elaborately hand-engraved and carved mounting of the richest, most buttery 18K yellow gold that has developed a soft and smooth patina over the ages. It slides into the finger like a circle made of air. And it is absolutely perfectly comfortable. When you look at the stone face-on, it is dark. But move your hand even the slightest amount and you will see the sultry flashes of deep wine red and purple that reside within the gem. It's interesting, this ring. By day, it's all business: it's not flashy. The color of the garnet doesn't leap out at you like a spinel or a ruby. But at night, it's a different story.
