Antique Carnelian Intaglio Ring, Louis VIII
About the Item
Antique Carnelian Intaglio Ring from the mid to late 19th Century. Intricately and finely carved seal of a Louis VIII profile within a gold bezel and an Arts and Crafts sterling silver ring setting with abstract fairies mounted on the shoulders.
Beautifully crafted with the intaglio set onto hinges within the setting. This is an unusual construction, possibly indicating the intaglio is from an older jewel of European origin. Mounting likely French in origin. Size 4.5-5 US.
Size 4.5 to 5 .75" wide x 1" across.
