Art Nouveau Diamond Silver Gold Cocktail Ring
About the Item
Art Nouveau diamond ring. Set with a total of thirty two round old cut diamonds of varying sizes in open back grain and millegrain settings with an approximate combined weight of 3.00 carats, to an impressive sprayed cross over form with intricate wirework throughout and petal motif settings to the graduated rows, with fancy pierced backholing to reverse and flowing down to a solid tapered D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold with silver settings, numbered '2533' circa 1900.
This ring bears a close resemblance to one made by Georges Le Turcq pictured in Henri Vever’s seminal publication on French jewellery, ‘French Jewellery of the Nineteenth Century’ (ed. Katherine Purcell), page 1164. This ring is also referenced in 'Georges Le Turcq: Un grand Joaillier Art nouveau Francais' by Jean Jacques Richard, 2015, page 22.
