Antique Iberian (Spain) Colombian Emerald & Diamond Earrings late 18th Century
Located in OVIEDO, AS
Dazzling pair of museum quality chandelier earrings (collector's item), with electric foiled Emeralds. Inlaid with rose-cut and table-cut diamonds. Superbly preserved, dating from the late 18th century (1780). A set of sparkling flat rose-cut diamonds decorates each earring along with sixteen vibrant step-cut green emeralds. They range in value from 0.15ct (6 emeralds) to 1.20ct (8 emeralds), and total approximately 10ct in both. The galleries have ornate detailing and are fitted with three droppers at the bottom with a hinge in the center to allow them to swing and dance freely. The earrings preserve its original clip hooks and are divided into three bodies, the upper one can be separated and worn independently. Size: Height 80mm (78mm inc. hooks) x Width 23mm x Depth 5.5mm. Metal: Silver/ 18ct Gold (Tested) Stones: Emeralds (Major 6.46mmx 5.38mm, approx. 1.20ct each - 10 carats total), Diamonds (approx. 4ct total). Weight: 43.21g Modern Spain, Portugal and parts of France were once part of the Iberian peninsula- Please note that the earrings are in original condition with the original fittings. Sometimes these earrings are referred as Catalan as they were mainly made in the region at the late 18 cent. Spanish jewellery benefited from the Colombian emerald mines abundant supply by the end of the 18 century. During the eighteenth century, Spain controlled the gold and emerald mines of Colombia and Peru. This wealth of resources resulted in exquisitely fine gem-set gold jewelry. Parures of emeralds, necklaces, stomachers, rings, earrings, etc. were plentiful at the court of Spain. A long gold earring...

Antique Georgian Pinchbeck Chandelier Torpedo Earrings
Located in Stamford, CT
A magnificent example of history, these long beautifully granulated chandelier earrings are set with amethysts from early c. 1790 and were made in the United Kingdom. They are light on the ear and completely original other than the shepherd hooks which are easier to insert rather than the back to front hooks.. Antique earrings are dear and rare to find in original condition, as many have lost the top section. These earrings superb quality, decorated with tiny orbs of gold ( granulation) applied on the long stem part. Father time knows how granulation adhered without glue or solder. The top and lowest section are engraved in repousse, the method of engraving where the gold sheet is pushed out into a design from the back creating volume and dimension. Floral designs cover the bottom inch of the earrings. The magical secret of Pinchbeck is that no expertise was spared in its creation, rather it took a master of alchemy and ingenuity to create the gold metal formula. Pinchbeck was that alchemist. He was a British Watchmaker. He concentrated on making the first fine gold metal that was not actually gold but became as valuable. He and his son were the only living to know the formula, a marvelous gold metal that never tarnishes, is a comfortable weight and is strong and durable. It became sought after by royalty and jewelry lovers throughout the world. Made only for a short period, it is valuable, desirable and precious. Later gold filled and gold plated jewelry does not match the beauty. Pinchbeck jewelry...

Small Ancient Indus Valley Bead Ring Etched Carnelian Cone Antique Gold Ring
Located in London, GB
A superb and rare ancient Indus Valley etched carnelian bead ring. The conical shaped carnelian gemstone in the centre dates from the middle of the third millennium BC. Deep orange in colour with white patterned etchings, these beads originate from the Indus Valley civilisation (parts of modern day Pakistan and India). These carnelian beads were alkaline-bleached to develop the geometric white patterns visible on the exterior. The technique was first developed by the Harappans of the Indus Valley civilisation, and vast quantities have been found in archaeological sites all across the Indus Valley. The conical stone has been set in a later high-karat gold ring mount, the hoop is hollow and of circular cross section which widens towards the bezel. This design and shape is typical of ancient gold rings...
