About the Item

This miniature portrait pendant is an exceptional and collectable piece of jewelry dating from the late 18th century. It is crafted in metal and is set with giardinetti paste, which is rare and saught after. The crystals vary slightly in color and with black dots painted on the very bottom underside of the stone imitate old cut diamonds. The intricate portrait of a lady is hand drawn on porcelain in enamel. It is remarkably lifelike, including pale pastel colors and realistic facial features. The portrait rests behind a glass cover. At the top of the piece is a decorative bow motif. It is a real jewelry masterpiece which could deservedly be added to any museum collection.
