Antique Late 17th-Early 18th Century Diamond Demi-Parure Silver Gold, Portuguese

About the Item

An important late 17th to early 18th century diamond demi-parure in silver and gold, Portuguese, cased. Comprising of a brooch/pendant, a pair of earrings and a necklace, the whole set is embellished throughout with rose-cut diamonds in closed-back silver and silver-on-gold collet settings, accompanied by a fitted leather case. The “laça” brooch/pendant can be worn on its own or as a centre piece to the necklace, the double-bow surmount with realistic fluttering ends, suspending a detachable cross, both of openwork decoration with shimmering gold diagonal radiating beams. The pair of pendent earrings is similarly-fashioned with a double-bow design between two scrolling openwork sections, elegantly matching the laça centre piece. The demi-parure from the Baroque period is complete with a slightly later necklace and extension fitting. Dimensions: Necklace (without extension fitting) 46.5cm; brooch/pendant 6.5cm; earrings 3.8cm.
