This classic 19" pearl necklace is composed of 50 cultured freshwater pearls from China that range in size from 8.5mm to 10mm, with most being 9mm or larger. The pearls have been hand-strung on thick, sturdy white silk and knotted between each pearl. Instead of being strung from smallest to largest, the pearls were selected at random. This gorgeous, ethereal Midcentury jadeite jade necklace was created by the iconic San Francisco retailer, Gump's, circa 1970. The luminous, translucent fog-toned jade beads measure approximately 8.83mm and are on their original silk string. The necklace is finished with the classic Gump's 14k yellow gold clasp, that features both the metal fitness mark and the Gump's logo. Gump's never used treated jade in any of their jewelry; all authentic Gump's jewelry is natural and untreated "A" jade. These extraordinary beads are in soothing tones of soft, soft violet and the palest yellow. The palate here may be neutral but the impact certainly is not. This luminous blue and grayish-blue chalcedony bracelet was created in the Arts & Crafts style though it dates to a later era; probably the 1970s. This one-of-a-kind bracelet was completely handmade using natural highly translucent blue chalcedony gems. At 141 grams, it's a satisfyingly substantial bracelet that will not get lost on your arm. The central flower-shaped arrangement is composed of one round 21mm chalcedony cabochon surrounded by eight oval and pear-shaped stones, along with two large 20mm x 17mm pear-shaped cabochons north and south. This collection of stones are soldered together as one piece that is curved to follow the arch of your wrist. On either side of this central design element are nine chalcedony cabochons, each bezel set and joined by hand-formed links. The links terminate on both ends at a row of 5 stones: two round, three ovals. The bracelet closes securely with a box clasp and safety latch. Because the central portion of this very large bracelet is fused, it's not a sloppy piece; the gems don't spin around on your wrist and become tangled. It retains its form and only the stones on the sides that are linked by chain can move freely. It's a clever design. The bracelet measures 7 ½ in length and is 3 ¾ wide. So it should fit many but the largest wrists. The bracelet is marked 925 for the silver and has an unknown maker's mark I cannot identify.
