A vintage silver rectangular brooch with a cut out of an Egyptian hieroglyphic mythology scene. The scene depicted here is the worship of Osiris, as supreme deity of the dead, Osiris was the representative of the world order in the afterlife. Every dead person who wanted to enter the world of the dead has to pass him first. Vignettes of this kind full of visual symbolism were commonly used illustrations in the Egyptian Books of the Dead.
