With braided hair behind glass in a gold setting and surrounded by seed pearls and garnets.
In the Georgian and Victorian eras, woven hair art was used to memorialize a departed loved one or given as a keepsake memorial for a loved one in their absence. This pin clearly kept somewhere dear in an intimate proximity.
The gold professionally tests as 10k and is possibly 12K (as many of these early pieces are.)
