About the Item

This gorgeous skyscraper style Art Deco clip brooch was meticulously hand crafted in the United States, circa 1930. Boasting an impressive total diamond weight of 12.5 carats, this piece offers a rectangular body with a pyramidal form at the base, brimming with beautiful gemstones (diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires) set in lustrous platinum. In the center of the piece is a majestic trillion cut white diamond weighing approximately 2.7 carats, with four rectangular baguette cut diamonds above that weigh approximately 40 points. Six larger baguette diamonds (four above, and two on either side of the trillion) appear throughout the piece, weighing approximately 2.5 carats in total. Between the two sets of baguette cut diamonds that appear at top (on the bar of the brooch) are curvilinear details including streamlined forms with cabochon emeralds in the center and a cutout cubist motif. 10 point square cut rubies cap the ends of the brooch bar. There are three pentagonal form baguette cut diamonds the center of the pyramidal form at the base flanked on either side by two 10 point square cut sapphires. The body of the piece is composed of 120 three point single cut diamonds (weighing approximately 3.5 carats), as well as 24 larger ten point European cut diamonds (weighing approximately 2.4 carats). The body of the brooch attaches to the clip via four streamlined arms (a leitmotif in Art Deco design) that gracefully wrap around it. The clip is artfully concealed by diamonds (as well as the square cut rubies on each end). With its iconic Art Deco motifs throughout - streamlined forms, as well as skyscraper style and ziggurat detailing- this piece is sure to delight discerning jewelry collectors of the period, and Deco enthusiasts.
