French Napoleon 3 Antique Crescent Moon Sapphire Diamond Brooch
About the Item
Brooch in 18K rose gold and silver, eagle's head hallmark.
This sublime antique brooch in the form of a crescent moon comes to us from the 19th Century. It is set with 21 natural Royal Blue sapphires bordered with rose cut diamonds. The brooch clasp is in the form of a pin. At the back this brooch has a small hole that allows it to be adapted using hair pins. This brooch is in exceptional condition, a true collector’s piece of wonderful luminosity.
Sapphires total weight: approximately 4 carats, total diamond weight: about 1.30 carat.
Height: 4.3 cm, width 4.2 cm, thickness: 7 mm.
Authentic antique jewel - French work of the second half of the 19th century.
Our opinion: A rare untouched vintage piece. The lunar theme was very popular in jewellery of this period, especially following the passage of Hayley’s Comet.
