Important round shape brooch, it forms a dome openworked with arabesques and of a floral pattern decorated with 4 small pearls and 5 round garnets in dahlia setting. The attachment system is a pin. Weight of the central garnet : 0.90 carat approximately. Weight of the other garnets : 0.70 carat approximately. Diameter of the pearls : 3/3,5 mm. Diameter : 4 cm, thickness : 7 mm approximately. Total weight of the jewel : 10,7 g approximately. Authentic antique jewel - French work from the beginning of the 20th century. Brooch / pendant in 18 karat yellow gold, eagle's head hallmark. Octagonal shaped with an openwork circle pattern and studded with natural pearls, this pendant holds a cameo on 4-layered agate representing the left profile of a bust woman. The back opens like a medallion to incorporate a photo or lock of hair. For the brooch, the hanging system is a pin with safety hook. The latter bends and the pin unscrews to allow the jewel to be worn as a pendant. The removable bail is in the shape of an openwork lily flower. Height : approximately 5.7 cm, Width : approximatley 3 cm, Cameo Size: 2.1 cm x 2.7 cm. Total weight of the jewel : approximately 18.5 g. Here we have a very well made, antique, pin/brooch that was crafted in France from solid 18k gold and silver during the Victorian era. The brooch features a large beetle design that shows incredible detail and is neatly set with fine stones throughout. The beetles' wings are constructed from polished, custom cut, garnets that are well matched showing a deep, dark, red color bringing a truly rich look to this piece. The body of the beetle is then adorned with old rose cut diamonds in which brilliantly sparkle for a glamorous touch, while the eyes stand out with the vivid red color of the cabochon cut rubies.
