About the Item

Jewellery of the first decades of the 20th century is characterised by its unsurpassed perfection of craftsmanship, with an eye on luxurious details at all times. This Art Déco bracelet, dating to the mid-1920s, is a perfect example; each of its details is worked with incredible precision, down to the never-visible sides of the bracelet as well as the clasp, both of which are engraved with ornaments. A natural emerald of vivid green hue takes centre stage and provides the sole flash of colour. The design of the bracelet itself is simple, stream-lined – but it is exactly this elegant simplicity which becomes a stage for the superior craftsmanship. Fine pierced details turn the piece into a maze of slender lines and curves, each of them structured with millegrains and tightly paved with diamonds. An incredible amount of 553 diamonds, amounting to 8.30 carats overall, have been used to create this jewel. With each of the wearer's movements, the diamonds bring forth a small firework of lights. The exceedingly detailed work illustrated in this textbook example of Art Déco jewellery only grew possible due to the use of platinum, which is harder than gold and allows for finer texturing. The bracelet's luxurious nature grows evident if one considers the fact that in the years around 1925, the platinum price was three to six times that of gold. Its cool, white tone allows the diamonds and emerald to truly shine. The quality of the materials has been certified by an independent gemological institute, and the certificate is part of the offer.
