About the Item

The early 1950s saw a quick rise in private wealth and overall quality of life, now known as „Wirtschaftswunder” or economical boom. The shop windows of the jewellers gleamed with colourful gemstones, with chunky gold chains and fine watches. The jewellery of that time was often still informed by Art Déco in detail, yet added its own vibrant twist to the stylish geometry. The one-of-a-kind bracelet at hand, made by the German female artisan jeweller Hildegard Risch circa 1950, is a perfect example of the jewellery of that era. An amethyst, two aquamarines, a green tourmaline and a garnet are connected by a band of platinum-set diamonds, set into a quirky bed of rose gold tendrils and leaves over the actual yellow gold bangle. The gemstones show different colours and cuts, rivalling each other in vibrancy. They have been assessed by a renowned independent gemological institute. The bangle is signed „Risch” with the added note „Handarbeit”, translating to „made by hand”. It is an artisanal vintage piece in great condition that is not only perfectly beautiful, but also a rare example of female artisanal creation in a then still male-dominated area.
