About the Item

About the Ancient Coin The reverse side of the coin depicts Genius, the Roman depiction of a divine nature which is was believed to be present in every individual man, place, or thing. For people, this divine nature would be with them from birth until death. Women were instead accompanied by the spirit of Juno. The obverse side of the coin depicts Valerius Licinianus Licinius, the Emperor of Rome from 308 to 324. A trusted friend of emperor Galerius, he was raised to the rank of Augustus in the West. He later gained power in the East following the defeat of Maximinus Daza, with Constantine taking control of the West. An uneasy alliance between the two ended with Licinius hung by Constantine for conspiracy. The coin dates to 317 AD and is set in a custom-designed silver ring made from completely recycled materials. Size L (Australia and UK sizing) or 5 3/4 (US and Canada).
