Rare Georgian Crowned Garnet Rose Cut Diamond Ring 1700s Gold Museum Quality

About the Item

A very early Georgian ring with an oval flat cut Almandine Garnet crowned with four Rose Cut Diamonds and dating to the 1700s. A museum quality jewel from the collection of Edith Weber. The gold is 12 Karat Gold and the diamonds are set in silver atop gold as was the custom of the period. It is extremely rare to find these original very early rings. The jewel is worthy of the antique jewelry collections in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Provenance: From the collection of the legendary Edith Weber Jewelry from Edith Weber was worn on the red carpets of the Academy Awards and graced many major national magazines. Her store at The Carlyle was described as a historical jewel box with esoteric jewelry spanning the centuries. Her son, Barry Weber said "we are fearless in our taste," always searching for the rare and beautiful. The top of the ring is 10mm tall and 6mm wide. The ring is a size 7.5 US (P UK), and can be easily resized if desired. The ring weighs 2 grams.

    This is a rare museum quality early Rose Cut Diamond Pendant dating to the Georgian Era set with an abundance of antique Rose Cut Diamonds set in silver atop 14 Karat gold as was the custom of the period. The pendant of great beauty and dating to the 1700s. Diamonds were all the rage in the Georgian period and this is a wonderful example. Early pieces such as this are extremely difficult to find. This one is so immensely wearable as the size is just perfect for wearing either day or night. It has stunning period character and style. The pendant is 68 mm (2 3/4 inches) long from the top of the bale to the bottom of the pendant. Without the bale it is 58 mm long. It is 45 mm (1 3/4 inches) wide at the widest point. The rose cut diamonds are set in silver collets atop 14 Karat gold. The gold bale is a later addition.
