Antique Victorian Mizpah Ring with Horseshoe and Diamond
A distinctive 18 Kt Mizpah ring brings double luck, one with its blessing and the second with its central horseshoe that is graced by an old mine diamond at the center and set in a horseshoe shape. The diamond is .07 cts and constantly twinkles like the north star. The engraving of the letters, sharp and clean, is raised from the background gold. At the borders are railroad track engraving and beading as are the edges of the horsehoe. This is a fine example of a Mizpah ring c. 1800-1900 from Birmingham, England. The makers mark is S&G. Sentimental jewelry prevailed in the Victorian Era. This ring falls into that comforting category. It includes friendship and love between friends, relatives or lover who may be apart whether for an hour or weeks. The word Mizpah asks the universal spirit to watch over the wearer. Excellent Condition. Size 8 3/4 to 9
