Antique Large Mid-17th Century French Aubusson Historical Tapestry

About the Item

This is a gorgeous antique late 17th Century French Aubusson historical tapestry depicting a beautiful and rich summer scene of a countryside with lush trees and vegetation, with a man of prominence pulled in a chariot by horses. The border features several different varieties of flowers and birds. The piece measures 9.2 x 13.10 ft. It is an exquisite piece in excellent condition and a classic example of a historical Flemish tapestry of this period. Provenance: Christie's Auction House, New York, NY in spring 1997
