Antique 18th Century Brussels Mythological Tapestry, with Diana the Huntress

About the Item

An 18th century Brussels mythological hunting tapestry, size 9' H x 8' W, depicting the Roman goddess of the hunt, Diana, reposing in a forest setting with her attendants, with one holding Diana's bow and arrow, and with her Horn hanging from a tree nearby. Enclosed within a trompe l'oeil (fool the eye) frame style border. Handwoven flat-weave textile composed of wool with silk inlay. Excellent condition. An amazing find, and a wonderful addition to a large home or even a museum! Hanging: The tapestry comes ready for hanging, with linen backing and a strip of hook and loop tape at the top end, which can be connected to the opposite side of the supplied hook and loop tape, which could be tacked to your wall. For those who prefer the use of a tapestry rod, we can add the appropriate size loops to accommodate your needs.
