"Battle of the Nudes, " Rare Art Deco Signed Print by Willy Pogany

About the Item

Depicting a complex interplay of lithe nude figures in struggle, the upper male figure holding a large sword aloft, this rare print was made by the famed artist and illustrator, Willy Pogany, in the 1920s or 1930s. Pogany was born and educated in Hungary, before emigrating to Great Britain, and then leaving again for New York after World War I. He became one of the nation's leading book illustrators, leaving his imprint on a wide range of books such as "A Treasury of Verse for Little Children," "The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam," and "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner." Pogany signed the print, marking it "Final State #2." Dimensions include matte and frame; visual area of the print is 13.25" high by 10.25" wide.
