"At the Ring," Rare Art Deco-Cubist Olympics Print Depicting the Boxing Arena

US$3,600

About

One of the rarest of Milivoy Uzelac's Olympics prints, this scene depicts the boxing arena from several vantage points -- from above, from the vantage point of the audience, and from the viewpoint of the cameraman, capturing a knockout. The artist's work shows strong influence of Cubism, Neoclassicism and Art Deco stylization. This print was one of a group issued in 1932 in concert with the Olympics that year, and is richly finished in tones of slate blue, chalk white, lime green and coral red. Dimensions include the elaborate matte and frame.
