Beautiful lithograph 1880s portrait of Camillo Benso, count of Cavour important figure in the history of Italy. With an elegant golden frame in antique gold leaf. Camillo Paolo Filippo Giulio Benso, count of Cavour, of Cellarengo and of Isolabella, known simply as Count of Cavour or Cavour (Turin, 10 August 1810 - Turin, 6 June 1861), was an Italian politician and entrepreneur. He was minister of the Kingdom of Sardinia from 1850 to 1852, president of the Council of Ministers from 1852 to 1859 and from 1860 to 1861. In the same 1861, with the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy, he became the first president of the Council of Ministers of the new State and died in that post. He was the protagonist of the Risorgimento as a supporter of liberal ideas, civil and economic progress, anti-clericalism, national movements and the expansionism of the Kingdom of Sardinia against Austria and the pre-unification Italian states.
