About the Item

Marlene Dietrich at the Reimann Arts School costume ball in Berlin, 1928, photographed by Alfred Eisenstaedt (1898–1995). One of Germany's best known art schools during the interwar years, Reimann established its own film department the same year as this image as made. Marlene had just finished filming Josef von Sternberg's The Blue Angel - - one of Germany's most important films and the one that would catapult her to stardom. A historically significant image. Silver gelatin photograph was printed in the 1960s and is titled and dated in ink along with credit stamps on the verso. Print measures 10.5 x 13.38 inches. Matte black frame in wood.
