A set 4 botanical photogravures by Karl Blossfeldt (German, b. 1914-d. 1932), "Urformen der Kunst", First Edition 1929, Berlin. (We have 24 of these available, more pics coming soon.)
Hung together, these make a very impressive and contemporary wall display. We have more of these in inventory, they can be purchased for $395 each.
Blossfeldt was a well-known artist, teacher, sculptor and photographer; best known for his close-up photographs of plant life.
Blossfeldt believed that 'The plant must be valued as a totally artistic and architectural structure.' Modern and organically beautiful, his photographs of plants, flowers and seed heads are as appealing today as they were when they were first introduced to the public in his first landmark book, "Urformen der Kunst", (Art Forms in Nature), 1929.
It was his firm belief that only through the close study of the intrinsic beauty present in natural forms that contemporary art would find its true direction.
