Cecil Beaton (1904-1980) was an English fashion photographer, a portrait photographer to the rich and famous, a war photographer, diarist, painter, and interior designer. Beaton also won an Oscar in the costume design category as well as awards for theater production costume design. The famous person photographed in the offered piece is Martha Graham.
Martha Graham (1894-1991) was named by Time Magazine as "Dancer of the Century!" Graham was an American dancer and choreographer that reshaped our notions of classical dance and whose methods are still taught worldwide. Her modern dance method was infused with ballet to reveal "the inner man." Her work is has influenced every form of modern dance currently used today.
