Anita O'Day, Dallas, Limited Edition

About the Item

Very large, high resolution, signed and numbered print, made from the original negative on archival quality, acid free paper. This process is supervised, numbered and signed by the artist, along with signed “Certificate of Authenticity” with matching edition number and complimentary copy of "The Man Who Used Jazz For Justice". Anita O’Day, one of the great all-time improvisers among jazz singers, swung as hard as she lived. She earned her reputation with the band of drummer Gene Krupa in the early 1940s, made enduring recordings for Verve Records in the 1950s and 1960s, recorded for her own label over the next 15 years, and limped into her seventies performing after a stroke before giving it up in 2006. Petersen Antiques and 1stDibs have exclusive rights to this historic series of photographs by Photographer Tad Hershorn.
