Ramón de Campoamor, Oil on Canvas, Signed, Ojeda Y Siles, Manuel, 1857

Ramón de Campoamor. Oil on canvas. Signed, dated and dedicated in the left zone. OJEDA Y SILES, Manuel (Seville, 1835-1904), 1857. Male portrait showing the character in an interior, with a comfortable velvet dress and part of a large mirror to the right. The gentleman looks at the viewer, with his elbow resting on the furniture and the other hidden hand, dressed elegantly and with an important piece of jewelry hanging from the vest. Thanks to the inscription located towards the lower left corner (“to his friend R. de / Campoamor / M. de Ojeda / 1857”), we know the identity of the portrayed, although it is also possible to buy this canvas with works such as the Portrait of Ramón de Campoamor by Federico de Madrazo and Kuntz of the National Library of Spain (Madrid), or the painting known as "The Contemporary Poets" by Antonio María Esquivel (1846, Museo del Prado de Madrid). Ramón María de las Mercedes Pérez de Campoamor y Campoosorio (Piñera, Navia, 1817-Madrid, 1901), known as Ramón de Campoamor, was a Spanish poet and politician who came to occupy a seat in the Congress of Deputies and was civil governor of Valencia, besides being known and respected internationally for his works (theater, poetry, philosophy, "Parliamentary speeches", etc.). Manuel de Ojeda was a Spanish painter specializing in themes of history and portraits. Trained at the School of Fine Arts in Seville with Antonio María Esquivel and other teachers, he often participated in the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts (in 1860 he achieved an Honorable Mention of 2nd class) and made numerous portraits of outstanding personalities for official institutions (For example, Mr. Xifrá for the Overseas Ministry in 1857, preserved in the Museum of Fine Arts in Seville; portrait of María de las Mercedes, signed and dated in 1878, owned by the Prado Museum in Madrid; etc.)." Size: 94.5 x 6 x 114 cms. Weight is orientative, since it may need special packaging. International Buyers – Please Note: for those articles that need Export Permits (those older than 100 years), the obtaining of the Permit will be processed without additional expenses, but the period for the obtention of it may vary from 10 to 35 days.
