Porcelain plaque painted with Mary Magdalene by K.P.M. German, circa 1900 Measures: Frame: Height 32.5cm, width 26.5cm, depth 3cm Plaque: Height 25.5cm, width 19cm, depth 0.5cm This magnificent porcelain plaque, the porcelain by the important maker KPM, is superbly painted with a portrait of Mary Magdalene, the biblical figure portrayed in her conventional pose. The painting is finely executed, with small, delicate brush strokes employed to render Mary’s features, which are highlighted by oblique lighting. The plaque is held by a giltwood frame and is marked to the reverse with the marks for KPM.
