Dated to a 1956 exhibition at the Pasadena Art Museum, an oil on masonite painted titled "Two Masks" by renowned artist California Surrealist artist and animator Oskar Fischinger. Painting measures 16" x 20" in a 24.75" x 28.25 matted wooden frame. From a recent LA Modern Auction sales catalogue featuring a number of his paintings: "A Pioneer of modernism in Los Angeles, Oskar Fischinger (1900–1967) is celebrated for his transcendent and metaphysical oil paintings, as well as for his groundbreaking work in abstract film animation. Through each medium, Fischinger explored the boundaries of human perception, offering his audiences a glimpse of the infinite.".
