Large and beautiful pastel of an autumnal floral still life. red chrysanthemums and autumn leaves against a blue background.
It is a powerful and colorful work of art. To date around the beginning of the 20th century. With original frame from the same time.
Berthe Art was a Lady painter of still lifes, flowers and fruit. (December 26, 1857 – February 27, 1934)
Berthe Art was a pupil of Alfred Stevens in Paris and attended his studio for more than ten years. She excelled in pastels and participated with success in a number of exhibitions both in Belgium and abroad.
With elegance and distinguished perception, Berthe Art adds a vigour of expression and a scheme of colours which are absolutely masculine. Though her main pencil lines contain an arrogant boldness in her shading, there is great finesse.
