Trompe l'Oeil Oil Painting by Charles Cerny

About the Item

This stylish and chic trompe l'oeil painting on canvas dates to 1955 and was created by the artist Charles Cerny. Note: Frame dimensions: 15.75" height x 13.69" width and 1.25" depth. Note: Image dimensions: 10.75" height x 8.50" width Note: There is a slight dent to the upper left corner of the frame (see last photo). FYI: Charles Cerný (1892-1965), sometimes called Walter Cerny, was a Czech landscape painter , portraitist and still life painter. He studied in Prague, Munich, Vienna and Paris and exhibited his works at the Société des Artistes Indépendants in Paris since 1910. He later moved to France and worked in Lagny/Seine-et Marne. He became the official artist of the French Navy and was able thus to visit many exotic locations to paint. In these years, he painted a small anchor with his signature.
