About the Item
Artist George Samerjan's (1915-2005) WPA style watercolor titled "Roller at Van Nuys" 1941, in its original artist selected and hand painted frame, but re-framed with acid free backing and 8 ply mat and new glass. Art is 19" x 13 5/8", signed lower right and on verso with title and dedication. This painting is of the machine age, Industrial era, road paving of the famous Van Nuys Boulevard, with workers using a paving roller. Van Nuys Boulevard is a major north-south arterial road that runs through the central San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County, California. In excellent condition.

George Samerjan (1915-2005) was an American artist whose career started in Hollywood, CA before continuing in New York after World War II. Capturing natural beauty and historical moments through his artwork, George's paintings include landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, scenes from the Great Depression, his travels to Europe and Alaska during World War II, and familiar pastimes spent with family. His works have been shown in the National Academy Galleries in New York City, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and other major galleries and museums throughout the country. His work resides in many major collections.
