Handwritten letter by Daniel O'Connell, the political leader of Ireland's Roman Catholic majority in the first half of the 19th century. The letter was written to Robert Sidney, regarding travel arrangements, the health of his wife, and a payment.

Presenting a lovely 19C Aquatint Engraving of the Quay at Waterford in Waterford city in Ireland.
This engraving has been hand embellished with aquatint color(s) and is from Ireland circa 1820-40.
It features a scene of the Quay or Port of Waterford from circa 1820. We are basing this upon the attire of the figures in the engraving and the tall ships.
It features Reginald’s Tower (still located at the Waterford Quay to this day). Georgian Quay buildings, a number of moored tall ships and row boats, barrels, horses and carts, women and British soldiers.
The engraving was professionally reframed and matted in Dallas in the 1980’s and the rear of the frame says that it was “Museum Mounted and Matted”. The frame has a lovely Grecian pattern around the front.

It beautifully captures a blanket of snow over the wet flat and sparsely vegetated boglands, with the reeds and rushes protruding from the snow and the bog holes still visible in the blanket of snow.

After Joseph Haverty RHA (1794-1864) 'The Triumphant Entry of George IV into Dublin'. 'His Majesty's Arrival', 'His Majesty's Embarkation'. A pair of coloured aquatints by Robert Havell. These prints record the visit of George IV to Ireland in 1821, when official business was overshadowed by the Kings' wish to visit Slane Castle. These are rare first state prints before the flags were re-engraved to fly at half mast for the death of Queen Caroline. This pair of aquatint prints by Robert Havell, are based on paintings by Joseph Haverty, a close friend of 'The Liberator', Daniel O'Connell. Haverty based his depictions on sketches made by John Lushington Reilly, whom Haverty has thoughtfully included in the embarkation scene. The figure of Reilly can be found in the central foreground sketching on horseback. The 18 day visit by George IV began on August 12th 1820, the Kings 59th birthday, and a mere three weeks after his coronation. The visit was arguably the first time a British monarch had visited the country without an accompanying army, in the traditional sense at least. George IV's visit was universally greeted with rejoicing from the populace. One of the first to extend his warmest welcome was Daniel O'Connell, who saw the visit as welcome support in his endeavours to achieve Catholic Emancipation...

This painting depicts a Horse Fair in Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon in the West of Ireland. There are many horse fairs throughout Ireland, especially in the Summertime. Local Breeders will bring their ponies into the local town square or Market square and trade, buy, sell and barter ponies. What I love about this painting is it's 'whimsical' depiction of a fair in that you have ponies and a group of farmers in heated debate (haggling).
