About the Item
Much like Salvador Dali, who continued to create his mysterious and puzzling landscapes long after Surrealism had lost its popularity, John Lear drew and painted in the same manner for several decades. And like Paul Cadmus, Lear was fascinated with the male nude, and returned to this subject again and again, earlier using oil or watercolor, and in the later years pencil and colored pencil. This late drawing features one of the stockier figures Lear favored in his last decades. (Dimensions include matte and frame.).
