Large Louis XV Style Colorful Large Oil Painting Manner of Boucher French School
About the Item
Probably a variation of ‘Spring’ After Boucher’s Four Seasons. Highly decorative. Typical rococo frivolity and color palette. Garlands and festoons of flowers with intertwined ribbon. Attractive couple in noble class dress. Warm cheerful colors as rococo was the happy escape from life.
Oil on canvas. Crazing, cracks, dents, dings throughout. Some dirt and grime in the crazing/cracks. Frame (probably original) in very good shape with grime in the valleys of the carved design and carved on the sides as well . Very old relining with 4 patched areas not easily visible on face of painting. Scattered paint touches throughout. Stable. Not viewed under black light. Some in-painting and or touchups
