50 Million Year Old Eocene Era Fossil Fish Triptych Mural in Stone, from Wyoming

US$58,000per set

At approximately 8.5' long and 5' high, this triptych mural is designed for impact and drama. Featuring a naturally occurring rippling stone texture throughout, the fossil-bearing limestone matrix is a rich host for the genuine Eocene era fossil fish swimming across all three panels. The distinctive ripples which traverse the face of the stone are a result of seismic activity which occurred around the ancient lake when the sediments were still soft. This triptych features many of the most famous fossil fish from the Green River Formation: one Phareodus testis, five Diplomystus dentatus, one Mioplosus labracoides, one Cockerellites liops (formerly known as Priscacara), and seventeen Knightia eocaena. These are all authentic Eocene era fossils dating back about 50 million years. The mural is fully backed with wood, and the unframed outline highlights the natural concept of this work of art. Each mural has a built-in French cleat, which allows for an easy installation. -Total size: 59" H x 102" W (includes 3" spacing between panels) x 1.5" D -Total weight: 409 lbs -Transports in a custom crate -Includes a Green River Stone Company "Certificate of Authenticity" -Fossil content: (1) Phareodus testis (measuring 21.5"), (5) Diplomystus dentatus (ranging from 6.25" to 18.5"), (1) Mioplosus labracoides (measuring 11"), (1) Cockerellites liops (measuring 7"), (17) Knightia (ranging in size) About this artwork: Fifty million years ago, in southwestern Wyoming, a tropical freshwater lake teemed with life—turtles, fish, crocodiles, and plants. Today the petrified lake has transformed into a stunning quarry of fossils, embedding the past into layers of stone. This is famously known as the Green River Formation. The beautifully preserved fossils are meticulously excavated from our private quarry and then prepared by our leading experts in fossil preparation and preservation. All work adheres to the strict standards of the American Association of Applied Paleontological Science, as is attested to in each work of art's unique "Certificate of Authenticity". We have supplied stunning examples of our natural art to world-class museums, collectors, interior designers, and art lovers. Our collection highlights important one-of-a-kind pieces as well as affordable works of natural art.
