18th Century Bernard Direx Geometric Renderings in Frames

US$1,400per set

About

A pair of framed French 18th century Bernard Direx renderings. This is a pair of framed geometric renderings from French artist Bernard Direx in custom silvered wood frames. Each rendering was originally part of a larger book, and are copper plate engraved (a printing process by which a plate was etched or engraved with the image and then put through a press, hence the slight depression around the margin of the sheet). They are labeled as "Gnomonique" Suppl Pl. 4 & "Gnomonique" Suppl Pl. 5. Gnomonique is a French term, from the Greek gnomon indicator, which is the art of designing, calculating and plotting sundials or circles, as commonly used in architecture and science. This pair of French 18th framed renderings would beautifully decorate an office, hallway or den. Should you be interested in a larger collection of these pieces, we currently have three additional pair available at this time.
