About

Ernesto Alva Mexico City, 1982. Plastic artist focused on traditional and experimental graphics, he has a degree in Plastic Arts from the National School of Painting, sculpture and engraving "La Esmeralda", (2002-2007). He trained as a printer in the Caracol Pura graphics workshop, (2001-2003) and the Taller Gráfica Bordes, (2005). He has developed his work within graphics and drawing. He is currently a member of the National System of Art Creators, 2018-2021 of the National Fund for Culture and the Arts. His work has received recognition as first prize at the 2nd New York International Miniature Print Exhibition, (2016), New York, USA. First prize for creators with a career in the First Biennial of Los Volcanes, (2015), first prize in the First Biennial of Contemporary Mexican Print, (2009), the Young Creators Scholarship, 2008-2009 and the José Guadalupe Posada Prize, (2004). He has exhibited individually and collectively in Mexico, Guatemala, Argentina, Uruguay, Canada, Brazil, Spain, China and London. It is part of the OJOXOJO Collective and the Cross References collective. He is the founder, coordinator and Master Printer of La Trampa Gráfica Contemporánea in the Historic Center of Mexico City, where he produces graphic works by contemporary artists as well as teaching engraving workshops open to the public (2009-date). Since 2012 he has participated in various engraving teaching programs of institutions and organizations such as the Autonomous University of Mexico, the Autonomous University of Morelos, Contemporary Art Workshops, the San Agustín Center for the Arts, the Hidalgo Center for the Arts, the Tlaxcala Arts Center, Local 21 AC, the Autonomous University of Baja California, the Bicuyuba Collective, Cultural Passport and the Carrillo Gil Art Museum.
