Fine 18th Century Rococo Tray Table, Origin: Stockholm, Sweden, circa 1760

About the Item

Swedish Rococo tray table, Origin: Stockholm, Sweden, circa 1760, original hand-painted, hand-carved wood. The entire table, including the tray top, is carved from one piece of wood with restrained yet elegant cabriole legs. The green base and white painted top is all original and has an exceptional patina. These tables are very useful in many various applications including sofa, coffee tables and/or occasional tables. The purity of the design, lacking any adornments, along with the pared down form of this rococo table are quintessential elements of Scandinavian antiques. Rococo decorative qualities are apparent yet it is very much Swedish - simple albeit still Rococo in form. One can see the beginnings of a new, national Swedish restraint beginning to appear in these earlier 18th century pieces.
