About the Item

"Mingx" is an outdoor table, designed by Konstantin Grcic and manufactured by Driade, with structure in printed steel sheet with protective cataphoresis treatment and rod with protective cataphoresis treatment polyester painted available in orange, light grey, bronze or black colors. Feet in ABS. Top in sheet metal. A version with imperial grey quartzite velvet finished top th. 0.78" is also available. Indoor or outdoor use. DIMENSIONS: D. 35.4", W. 35.4", H. 29.1" The design of the Mingx collection has reference to the same tubular profile that also inspired the ZigZag bookcase and develops into an extensive family of elements: seats, stools and tables, establishing a harmonious mutual dialogue that also extends to the bookcase. Mingx collection consists in a rich array of family members that harmoniously interact: chairs, stools and tables. This year, Grcic extends the Mingx collection to include a new set of tables and console tables in elegant oak finish. "Mingx" as a name clearly refers to the Ming dynasty that influenced development of the Chinese culture to the extent of making China the hub of Eastern trade. Tables with American walnut top and tubular steel frame are proposed in the cantilevered or flush with below structure versions, like the writing desk and the low table. Mingx tables collection is also available in outdoor versions with quartzite or sheet metal table tops and frames subjected to protective cataphoresis treatment. KONSTANTIN GRCIC was born in Munich in 1965. He apprenticed as a cabinet maker at John Makepeace School in the UK from 1985-1987. In 1990 he earned a MA in Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art in London. He founded Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design (KGID) in 1991. The office specializes in various fields of design ranging from furniture and Industrial products to exhibition design and architecture related work. KGID is working for some leading names of the design industry. Many of their products have received international design awards and form part of the permanent collections of the world's most prestigious museums. Grcic defines function in human terms, combining formal strictness with considerable mental acuity and humour. Each of his products is characterized by a careful research into the history of design and architecture and his passion for technology and materials. Known for paired down-down pieces, Grcic is often called a Minimalist but the designer himself prefers to speak of simplicity.
