Turned Wooden Pedestal Table #9 in Ash

About the Item

This pedestal table #9 in ash is one of the ten original shapes in the Lehrecke Pedestal collection from 1996. What makes this piece special is the quality of the wood, and the fact that the ash tree is disappearing at an alarming rate. Lehrecke is collecting as much of the wood as possible right now, because there will be nothing left in just a matter of years. Ash is a beautiful local wood with an open grain. The piece was turned on a custom built lathe, set to dry for three months and then finished with an ultra-matte water finish that looks very natural, while still giving it incredible protection. The inspiration for this piece, as well as the entire pedestal collection, is from African furniture, tools, and currency which Lehrecke has been collecting for years. The combination of the elemental forms and the precise machining is what gives these pieces their enduring and unique quality. The variety of shapes, sizes, and the options of different local woods source by Lehrecke are numerous.
