This elegant triangular Art Nouveau table by Louis Majorelle is very typical for the Salon Furniture by Majorelle. This two-tiered triangular table is made of oak and burl walnut and the base has spectacular carved twisted legs. A unique piece which is a great eye-catcher for your antique, modern, space age or mid-century interior. Louis Majorelle: The furniture designer and artisan Louis Majorelle (1859-1926) is one of the most important and successful exponents of Art Nouveau in France. As a leading representative of the Ecole de Nancy, Majorelle began experimenting with organic formal elements in his furniture designs around 1890, and in the period that followed, nature and its forms served him as an inexhaustible source of inspiration. With his elegant furniture creations, whose rhythmic lines were accentuated by spectacular gold-plated fittings in the form of water lilies or orchids, Majorelle celebrated true triumphs at the Paris World Exhibition of 1900. Art Nouveau: The epoch of Art Nouveau is not too long. It begins around 1894 and ends around 1906 at the latest when the Dresden exhibition shows new tendencies. The furniture should be practical, simple and inexpensive. For the first time the industry is involved and the artists want to make it a confederate. However, a great deal of craftsmanship is used and also advertised, which is one of the many inconsistencies of the style. On the other hand, the furniture is known for its organic and floral forms, which are especially created in Vienna and France.
