Provincial Chinese Low Table, c. 1875

About the Item

This lovely, low-profile table once served up wine, food, and board games to guests who sat or reclined on a platform or floor. Made of Chinese northern elmwood (yumu), the petite table is detailed with a carved scroll apron and charming hoof feet. A sign of its age and use, a rich patina cloaks the table's surface with a smooth texture that calls to be touched.
