Black Walnut 48" Coffee Table with Ceramic Feature Leg by Hinterland Design
About the Item
This 48" solid American black walnut coffee table with featured ceramic leg is inspired by the sun’s apparent orbit around the earth, the table legs exposed on the top surface create a celestial composition.
The tabletop is made out of solid American black walnut and features a 6" white glazed ceramic leg alongside 3 additional solid wood legs. Hinterland Design's "Ecliptic Table" is also available in whitewashed Canadian white ash, and a smaller 26" round coffee table and smaller 24" round side table, all of which are 14" high. The legs are customizable be either copper plated, brass, blackened or powder coated steel. In this one-of-a-kind version, the main 6" wide leg is hand thrown clay, fired and then glazed in white to compliment the walnut.
Hinterland designs and manufactures each of their pieces in its Vancouver, Canada workshop.

Hinterland Design
Hinterland Design is a studio that creates unique work for people to use, enjoy and cherish. Each piece is hand made, to order, designed and produced in our Vancouver, Canada studio. We are artists, woodworkers and craftspeople who build using natural materials. Drawing on twenty years’ experience, we believe in and stand behind our techniques, designs and finished products. To us, materials are at the heart of what we make. They provide the initial inspiration for the design, and also provide the user with an innate and ongoing connection to the natural world. We care about where we source, prizing local and healthy materials. And we care about how we treat those materials through the building process. Our environment shapes the work we do. Everything we make has a story. It starts with the materials, is shaped by the design and build, then develops through the many hands that use it throughout its lifetime. Designing and making unique objects that we are proud of, that are good for the earth and good for the people that use them is at the core of our practice.
