    Organically shaped, clean-lined and elegantly simple are three terms that best describe this massive dining table. The evolution of mid-century design in postwar Germany was a direct consequence of accepting, continuing, and further developing the ideas of the predecessing movements. It was, in a way, a “softer” version of the modern movement by adopting natural, organic forms. The distinctive triangular ‘guitar pick’ shape of this table is quite popular thanks to its functional and stylish look. While dining tables are furniture pieces that are generally associated with their functional role, exceptional Mid-Century Modern models like this one manage to stand out next to their utilitarian role. This table’s curved shape and generous surface area make it a perfect dining table, while not compromising on aesthetics. The 19th century Biedermeier furniture design was based on utilitarian principles with a simple and elegant style, and mid-century modernism carried these principles well into the 20th century.
