19th Century English Mahogany Drop Leaf Sofa Table

About the Item

This is a solid mahogany drop leaf table made in England, circa 1825. The top, both leaves, the ring turnings on the pedestals, the platform base, the frame of the table and all 4 legs are inlayed with Ebony. There are 2 drawers to the front of the table. There are 4 nicely turned and tapered pedestals that rest on a platform that is supported by 4 down swept, high kneed Regency legs. The solid brass feet and castors on each leg are beautiful and original to the table. The table is completely finished and inlayed on all 4 sides so it can be put into the middle of a room. There are 2 fold out wooden supports for each leaf that are on a wooden hinge. The table is clean and sound in both finish and physical condition. This would make a wonderful sofa table, a hall table, an entry table, a side table, an end table, a small desk, or even serve as a bar. It measures 36 1/2 in. wide x 27 in. deep x 28 1/4 tall (when closed). It is 59 in. wide x 27 in. deep x 28 1/4 tall ( with both leaves up ).
