Extremely Rare circa 1815 Regency Solid Burr Walnut Cushion Drawer Pedestal Desk

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this extremely rare regency circa 1815 solid burr walnut curved twin pedestal desk with cushion topped drawers. This desk is a tour de force of style class and design, its beautifully curved on all sides, the burl or burr (depending which part of the world you’re in) walnut is sublime, it literally is eye candy. The desk is made with mixed walnut timber, there are different grains on most panels making this almost a sample timber desk which is as rare as they come. I have only ever seen one other in all my timber with the cushion topped drawers and that was also Walnut. This desk has a nicely patinated brown leather top, it has natural fading and ware, I have it hand dyed a lovely cigar brown colour should the new owner wish for £150. In terms of the condition the desk has normal age related patina marks all-over, nothing you wouldn’t expect from a piece over 200 years old, there is nothing seriously negative to note. If the height is a little short for you I can have vintage porcelain or brass castors fitted for £80 which will raise the height by 5cm, it will offer the same in extra leg height as well. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
