Elegant modern desk, designed by Bertha Schaefer for Singer and Sons, circa 1950s. Beautiful graining to the Italian walnut, especially to the top. Schaefer was one of the leading female designers of the era, and designed this line for Singer and Sons with her contemporaries Gio Ponti, Carlo de Carli, and Franco Albini.
